Polish Parliament Halts Crypto Legislation Amid Controversy
Poland's legislative process for crypto regulations has hit another roadblock. The Sejm, parliament's lower house, passed a near-identical version of a previously vetoed bill, prompting the Senate to pause deliberations until January. This marks the second attempt to push through controversial crypto market legislation opposed by both the president and local industry participants.
President Karol Nawrocki vetoed the initial Crypto-Asset Market Act on December 1, citing concerns about stifling innovation and driving startups abroad. The revived legislation, passed by the Sejm on Thursday, now faces scrutiny from the Senate before potentially returning to the president's desk. Market participants warn the bill's restrictive approach could damage Poland's position in the digital asset ecosystem.
